Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependable Laboratory Technician to join our Consultants team in the Beaumont, TX area. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, US Corps of Engineers, etc. Other responsibilities include:

  • Perform physical, index, and chemical construction material laboratory testing, as assigned, including:
    • Concrete/CMU testing (concrete cylinder/cmu/core prep and compressing, specialty concrete testing, etc.)
    • HMA testing (gradations, AC content, density, etc.)
    • Soils testing (moisture/density, Atterberg Limits, gradations, strength, etc.)
    • Aggregate testing (gradation, specific gravity, unit weight, etc.)
  • Document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of equipment, maintaining documentation.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe laboratory and workspace.
  • Maintain relevant certifications and review testing methods regularly.
  • Meet deadlines and prioritize tasks according to procedures.
  • Demonstrate safe usage, storage, and maintenance of all tools and equipment, including company vehicle.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
  • Adhere to and participate in Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs, setting a good example of safety standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, G.E.D., or relevant industry certification (e.g., ACI, TxDOT certifications).
  • Valid driver’s license and meet auto insurability requirements.

If no certifications are held, obtaining at least one within six months of employment is required. Employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements. Good communication skills, basic math and science knowledge to analyze lab results are necessary.

The physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, stopping, talking, and lifting/moving up to 70 pounds. Visual abilities include close, far, peripheral, focus, and depth vision. The environment may involve exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, noise, dust, fumes, and other hazards, requiring proper safety procedures and protective equipment.

This position may require irregular hours and out-of-town travel.
