Job Opportunity

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW) at the Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMI) invites applications for a position supporting high-content and high-throughput drug screening activities. The facility enables imaging-based screens of organoids and other disease models to identify novel therapeutic compounds. The position starts on August 1, 2025, for 2 years.

Job Description

We seek a motivated employee interested in cell-based assay development, automation, and screening experiments. Responsibilities include supporting automation and imaging systems, managing lab inventories, and collaborating on drug discovery projects. The role also involves integrating new automation technologies and enhancing facility services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pre-clinical drug discovery research
  • Assist in assay development, validation, and transfer to robotic systems
  • Develop automation procedures for liquid handling and imaging
  • Train users on equipment
  • Conduct high-throughput drug screens and analyze data
  • Maintain equipment and document procedures
You Have
Essential skills and experience
  • Master’s degree in life sciences or relevant field
  • Laboratory experience, especially in cell culture
  • Interest in automation and imaging
  • Service-minded and good communicator
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in English
Desirable skills
  • Experience with in vitro assays
  • Microscopy experience, especially confocal
  • Image analysis skills (e.g., ImageJ, CellProfiler)
Place of Employment

At the reNEW Center, part of the University of Copenhagen, with international collaborations and access to advanced facilities for flow cytometry, genomics, and imaging. The role supports the Imaging-based Drug Discovery Facility, equipped with state-of-the-art microscopes and automation systems.

Terms of Employment

Full-time, 2-year position starting August 1, 2025, with the possibility of extension. Salary depends on experience and qualifications, with pension contributions included. Specific agreements apply based on employment type (Academic, Bioanalyst, or Technician).
