Job summary

University of Kentucky is seeking a Laboratory Technical Specialist to manage the Routine Microbiology subspecialty in a fast-paced academic medical center. You will troubleshoot, supervise test performance, and uphold CAP and regulatory standards while coordinating supplies and scheduling.

Primary responsibilities include quality control, regulatory compliance, resource planning, and supporting staff competency assessments and evaluations.

Qualifications

  • BS degree required for Laboratory Technical Specialist role.
  • Experience working in a clinical or academic microbiology lab desirable.
  • Strong problem solving and attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot test performance and ensure accuracy.
  • Manage quality control and regulatory compliance (CAP/others).

  • Job Summary: The Laboratory Technologist Specialist will be responsible for the technical management of the Routine Microbiology subspecialty within the Microbiology Laboratory section in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, managing test performance, quality control, CAP/other regulatory compliance, supply chain management, resource scheduling, assist with employee competency assessment, and assist in employee evaluations. The CAP-Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
