Job summary

The Laboratory Technical Specialist at UK HealthCare will be responsible for the technical management of the Routine Microbiology subspecialty within the Microbiology Laboratory in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to a broad patient population and affiliated centers.

Primary duties include troubleshooting, managing test performance, quality control, CAP/regulatory compliance, supply management, and scheduling.

Qualifications

• BS degree required.
• 3 years related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

Job Summary

The Laboratory Technologist Specialist will be responsible for the technical management of the Routine Microbiology subspecialty within the Microbiology Laboratory section in a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of this Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, managing test performance, quality control, CAP /other regulatory compliance, supply chain management, resource scheduling, assist with employee competency assessment, and assist in employee evaluations. The CAP -Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
