Job summary

GEL Laboratories, LLC is hiring a Laboratory Support Technician to join our Charleston, SC team and support various analytical testing in the radiochemistry lab. You will perform preparatory activities and assist with routine lab operations to ensure accurate and timely results.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma with preferred associates in science, basic math and computer skills, and good communication.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; associate degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
  • Laboratory experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic math and computer skills; ability to learn M365 and LIMS.
  • Good verbal and written communication; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Prepares lab ware for procedures.
  • Prepares containers for sampling with proper preservation and shipping protocols.
  • Performs sample management and disposal operations.
  • Performs standard operating procedures (e.g. aliquoting and digestions).
  • Operates basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
  • Uses LIMS to prioritize laboratory production workflow.
  • Follows written and verbal instructions.
  • Assist with supplies, balance, and pipette checks.
  • Demonstrate and support GEL core values.

Job description

GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a Laboratory Support Technician to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to support various laboratory functions. As a Laboratory Support Technician you are responsible for conducting a variety of preparatory activities to support various analytical testing in the radiochemistry laboratory.

What you'll do
  • Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner
  • Prepares lab ware for procedures
  • Prepares containers for sampling with proper preservation and shipping protocols
  • Performs sample management and disposal operations
  • Performs standard operating procedures (e.g. aliquoting and digestions)

  • Use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to prioritize laboratory production workflow
  • Follows written and verbal instructions
  • Assist with supplies, balance, and pipette checks

Working Environment & Physical Demands

This position requires working in a busy production laboratory, safely processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority, and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.

  • Precise hand/eye coordination and finger/hand manipulation.
  • Potential exposure to chemicals and to hazardous and/or radioactive materials.

  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
