Job summary

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a part-time Clinical Laboratory Assistant II to support the Central Laboratory Services team. You will handle specimens, documentation, and communications to keep tests and reports moving accurately and safely in a fast-paced lab.

The role emphasizes organization, attention to detail, and teamwork, with a starting hourly rate and benefits package. A geographic differential and assignment differential apply to compensation.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I at Roswell Park, or the equivalent of one year in a clinical/research setting with medical terminology.
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or scientific field with the equivalent of one year of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring medical terminology.
• Associate’s degree and the equivalent of two years of full-time experience in a comparable medical/clinical setting.
• High School Diploma or GED with the equivalent of four years of full-time experience in a clinical or research setting requiring medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Receive, process, and accurately document clinical and research specimens arriving in the laboratory.
• Ensure samples are properly accessioned, prepared, and routed to testing areas.
• Support timely distribution of laboratory reports through various communication methods.
• Respond to requests related to reports, specimen tracking, and testing information by phone, email, mail, etc.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation to support operations and compliance.
• Assist with laboratory quality control, QA, and routine equipment maintenance.
• Monitor laboratory supply levels and help with inventory management.
• Collaborate with laboratory professionals and other departments to support efficient workflows and service.
• Help identify and resolve issues that could impact turnaround times or customer service.
