Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Corpus Christi, TX, seeks a Laboratory General Supervisor to coordinate daily operations of designated sections and shifts. Under the Laboratory Director, you will supervise testing personnel, ensure regulatory compliance, and implement quality control programs to maintain patient safety.

You will develop procedures, manage budgets, train staff, and support performance improvement initiatives across the laboratory, ensuring adherence to CLIA, TJC, CAP, and AABB standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• Minimum 5 years of full-time experience in a clinical laboratory supervisory/leadership role.
• Certification for MT/MLS/CLS/MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day supervision of high, moderate, and waived complexity test performance by laboratory testing personnel.
• Ensures compliance with CLIA, TJC, CAP, AABB, and other regulatory standards.
• Plans, organizes and coordinates work activities of assigned section(s) and shift(s).
• Maintains attendance and time records for the department.
• Assists in budgeting, variance reporting, and cost control for the laboratory.
• Trains technologists and technicians and maintains orientation records for new staff.
• Develops and maintains current procedural manuals and reviews them biennially or as needed.
• Implements and monitors Quality Control programs and corrective actions as needed.
• Oversees proficiency testing, document management, and performance improvement activities.
