Job summary

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead both technical and non-technical staff, ensure regulatory compliance, and champion quality and efficiency in daily lab operations.

You will oversee shifts, drive performance metrics, coach staff, and participate in hiring, licensing, and process improvements to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Two-year/Associate degree in science or medical technology required.
• Four-year/Bachelor degree in Medical Technology helpful.
• State of Florida Supervisor’s License or ability to obtain during interview.
• At least five years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• Prior supervisory experience is beneficial.
• Licensure in three technical specialties preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise technical and/or non-technical laboratory personnel and assign areas/shifts.
• Oversee processes, service levels, and regulatory compliance across licensing, specimen collection, processing, and referral testing.
• Develop monitoring systems for quality assessment data; initiate corrective actions and re-monitor results.
• Monitor resource utilization including payroll, supplies, expenses, client volume, and MOR reports.
• Provide leadership in coaching, training, and talent development of staff.
• Screen, interview, and select qualified individuals for open positions within the department.
