Laboratory Supervisor - $10K Sign on Bonus

Role/Position Definition
Responsible for performing routine and non-routine activities pertaining to laboratory testing, including Point of Care Testing oversight. Performs moderately difficult to complex tasks. Performs assigned analytical testing procedures in an accurate, precise, and timely manner. Serves as senior laboratory staff member due to certification, education and/or experience.
Qualifications/Position Requirements
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or relevant field required.
- Minimum of 2 years clinical laboratory experience required.
Licensure/Certification
- MT/MLS (ASCP) certification required.
- BLS certification required.

- Strong customer service, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required.
- Knowledge of industry standards, applicable laws, and regulations.

- Knowledge of office equipment such as multi-line phones, faxes, and copiers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist or lead in developing procedures for specimen handling, testing, reporting, and quality assurance.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate department goals, policies, procedures, and standards aligned with organizational objectives.
- Participate in staff and committee meetings.
- Provide feedback and conduct performance evaluations for laboratory staff.
- Handle employee discipline in coordination with Human Resources.
- Maintain records for proficiency testing and ensure testing accuracy and consistency.
- Perform and review laboratory testing and report results following established protocols.
- Follow all relevant hospital and regulatory guidelines (HIPAA, CLIA, OSHA, etc.).
- Identify, troubleshoot, document, and resolve testing or reporting issues.
- Serve as a resource for physicians and nursing staff.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all testing activities.
- Ensure the laboratory’s appearance and compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in inspections and quality control procedures.
- Perform maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment and reagent issues, notifying supervisors as needed.
- Follow safety protocols for handling blood, body fluids, chemicals, and other hazards.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
- Attend safety training and adhere to exposure control plans.
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism towards patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Promote teamwork and effective inter- and intra-departmental relations.
- Serve as the technical consultant per CLIA regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
