The Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Laboratory Supervisor oversees and manages daily laboratory operations to ensure the highest quality of patient care while meeting regulatory and compliance standards. Supervisory oversight includes laboratory staff performance, interactions, and quality of work. Clinical management includes maintaining proper equipment operation, new test implementation, troubleshooting and resolving laboratory issues, correcting errors, and documenting quality control, resulting in efficient, timely, and highest quality IHC slide production. Laboratory staff report directly to the IHC lab supervisor, who in turn reports to the Medical Director of the IHC laboratory. The IHC lab supervisor may also interact with other clinical staff, including physicians, other laboratory supervisors and managers, the Assistant Anatomic Pathology Director, Pathology department administrative staff, and staff in other departments as appropriate.
