Job Title: Pulmonary Medicine Sleep Lab Technical Supervisor

The Pulmonary Medicine Sleep Lab Technical Supervisor works in collaboration with the Director of the sleep lab and Administrator to plan, direct, and evaluate technical staff, patient care, and technical support services. The supervisor is responsible for the daily management of technical services, supervision of all technical staff members, oversight and delegation of QA for all technical and research support functions, clinical policy development and review, and ensuring compliance with AASM standards and CMS technical regulations. Additionally, the supervisor maintains a healthy work environment and collaborates with the Program Director, Medical Director, and Clinical Administrator on division goals and objectives. The role includes training and performing duties of Registered Polysomnographer /Sleep Technologist and clerical staff as needed. Overnight shift coverage may be required in emergencies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Performing supervisory duties related to the Pulmonary Sleep Lab technical staff.
  2. Ensuring QA reports are completed to maintain compliance with CMS regulations and AASM accreditation standards.
  3. Promoting a multidisciplinary quality improvement program that incorporates patient care standards and meets CMS and AASM regulations.
  4. Organizing and completing projects within designated timelines.
  5. Scoring sleep studies, formatting preliminary reports, and assigning studies to interpreting physicians.
  6. Promoting open communication among staff, patients, and providers.
  7. Developing and implementing problem-solving processes with input from all stakeholders.
  8. Managing the scheduling of technical staff to ensure adequate coverage for sleep studies.
  9. Coordinating and accommodating time-off requests while maintaining operational efficiency and patient care.
  10. Monitoring staffing levels and adjusting schedules as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Polysomnography.
  • Five to ten years of experience as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPGST), including at least three years as a supervisor.
  • CPR/BCLS certification.
  • Board Certification of Polysomnographer (RPSGT).
  • NY State License for polysomnographer.
  • Knowledge of patient care and technical support in outpatient sleep labs.
  • Knowledge of sleep recordings, equipment use, and maintenance of analog and digital PSG equipment.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Nihon Koden PSG equipment.
  • Familiarity with AASM standards and CMS regulations.
