Job summary

Island Health leads Island Hospital Laboratory, seeking a Supervisory role to direct administrative and technical operations. You will ensure regulatory compliance, coordinate with leads and staff, and uphold patient safety and quality in a fast-paced lab environment.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years as a Medical Technologist with leadership experience, CLIA Technical Supervisor qualification, MT(ASCP) or equivalent, and relevant certifications including BLS and MA-phlebotomy.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in Laboratory as complex as Island Hospital Laboratory.
• Working knowledge of Meditech Magic experience, interface management, Lean process management and quality improvement preferred.
• 5 years’ experience as a Medical Technologist and demonstrating leadership, with 1 year management preferred.
• Qualify under CLIA as Technical Supervisor.
• MT (ASCP) or equivalent certification required.
• Basic Life Support and Washington MA-phlebotomy certifications; apply within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct administrative and technical operations of the laboratory sections.
• Ensure clinical laboratory service meets client, regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements.
• Coordinate day-to-day function with Leads and staff; supervise Island Hospital Laboratory operations.
• Provide leadership for Laboratory Services and sustain staffing to meet workload.
• Mentor staff and ensure performance reviews and quality improvement efforts.
