Job summary

Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Section Supervisor to oversee daily operations in the laboratory. You will supervise personnel, monitor workflow, ensure quality control, and coordinate with customers to meet service standards.

The role requires a Bachelor in a related science field, graduation from an approved medical laboratory technology program, and at least 5 years of laboratory experience, with ASCP certification or eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in related science field.
• Graduate from an approved school of medical laboratory technology or appropriate training facility.
• 5 Years laboratory experience.
• Certified by a professional laboratory-certifying agency, i.e. ASCP or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily supervision of personnel and reporting of tests.
• Monitors workflow and ensures compliance with service guarantees and quality control requirements.
• Collaborates with customers and addresses their needs; ensures customer service satisfaction.
• Orients and trains team members in the department.
• Completes performance evaluations and coaching plans.
• Addresses disciplinary actions and performance feedback for all team members.
• Schedules staff to meet workload while controlling costs.
• Performs testing to maintain proficiency and complies with policies and procedures.
• Verifies results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs and documents quality control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
• Evaluates new test methods and instrumentation and makes recommendations to the laboratory manager.
• Implements new test methods under supervision of manager and medical director.
• Supports budget maintenance and inventory control.
• Directs development and compliance of department policies and procedures.
• Maintains regular communication with Manager on day-to-day operations.
• Manages HR functions including hiring, assignments, coaching, and performance counseling.
