Indiana University in Indianapolis seeks a senior leader to direct biological and laboratory safety initiatives across campuses. You will provide high-level operational leadership, set safety standards, and guide multi-project initiatives.

The role involves budgeting, staffing, policy development, and ensuring compliance with federal/state requirements. A Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred, with at least five years in lab safety and one year of management experience.

Qualifications

• Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Preferred: Advanced degree.
• Required: 5 years of lab safety support or related experience.
• Required: 1 year of management experience.
• Preferred: Higher education work experience.
• Required: Valid driver's license with ability to be insured.
• Preferred: Certification in CIH, CSP, CBSP, or CCHO.

Responsabilités

• Directs and oversees biological and laboratory safety initiatives across campuses.
• Provides operational leadership and coordinates assigned staff on safety projects.
• Establishes short-term and long-term safety objectives with resource planning.
• Conducts personnel actions including hiring, promotion, and performance management.
• Manages resource allocation and budgets; negotiates cross-department initiatives.
• Keeps up-to-date with local, state, and federal safety requirements and implements new protocols.
• Prepares management reports for senior administration and serves on university committees.
