Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington is seeking a Laboratory/Biosafety Leader to guide university-wide safety programs, policies, and training. This role coordinates with EH&S leadership to align laboratory safety across IU's south territory including Bloomington, Columbus and Southeast.

The position provides senior operational leadership, staff direction, and budget/resource planning to ensure compliant, safe, and efficient lab operations. Travel to Southern campuses is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
• 5 years of lab safety support or related experience.
• 1 year of management experience.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured by IU.

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees biological and laboratory safety initiatives.
• Provides operational leadership and coordination of staff to define safety methodologies.
• Establishes short- and long-term safety plans and manages timelines.
• Performs personnel actions including hiring, promotion and performance management.
• Manages resources and budgets and coordinates cross-department initiatives.
• Maintains knowledge of local/state/federal safety requirements and implements new protocols.
• Prepares management reports and serves on senior committees.
