Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant to support multiple laboratory departments with timely workflow, accurate documentation, and strict safety/compliance adherence. Minimum 2 years in a clinical lab and a high school diploma or GED are required, with proficiency in lab information systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or equivalent, with demonstrated proficiency in patient registration, specimen handling, medical terminology, and laboratory information systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Processing: registers patients, orders tests, verifies information and maintains timely workflow.
• Performs specimen evaluation and preparation with proper labeling, distribution, storage and processing per guidelines.
• Equipment: assists with loading samples, performs maintenance, operates lab equipment per procedures, logs temperatures.
• Monitors and maintains a clean, organized workspace, troubleshoots equipment or contacts support.
• Inventory Management: monitors supply inventory, checks expiration dates, stores items and keeps storage areas organized.
• System Utilization: demonstrates proficiency in HIS and LIS software applications for job-related tasks.
• Training and Education: assists with training of new team members and completes mandatory continuing education.
• Safety: follows PPE protocols and maintains a safe workspace.
• Document Control: adheres to approved SOPs and procedures.
