Job summary

Urban Health Plan seeks a Laboratory Manager to oversee in-house laboratory operations at the El Nuevo San Juan Health Center in Bronx, NY. The role includes staff management, policy enforcement, and hands-on phlebotomy when needed.

Requirements include a National Certified Phlebotomy Technician, 2–5 years in a lab with supervision, a healthcare administration degree, and bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Onsite Mon–Fri, with one Saturday per month; compensation $66,300–$75,000 per year.

Qualifications

• National Certified Phlebotomy Technician required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• 2–5 years in a laboratory environment including supervisory or lead experience.
• College degree in healthcare administration or related field required.
• Bilingual Spanish/English, required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a team of Phlebotomists and Patient Service Representatives across multiple stations, including hiring, performance management, training, supervision, and payroll.
• Ensures specimen integrity by enforcing collection, handling, and processing procedures.
• Maintains and enforces departmental operating policies and procedures.
• Conducts phlebotomist training and assesses competency for phlebotomy-based roles.
• Maintains operating schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
• Liaise with BioReference for specimen pickup and processing.
• Runs EHR reports and notifies providers of critical lab values.
• Other related managerial duties as assigned.
