Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan seeks a Laboratory Director to provide overall technical direction and administrative leadership for the laboratory network. You will oversee testing operations, ensure compliance with standards, and coordinate with system leadership on policies, budgets, and equipment decisions.

The role requires a Bachelor's in medical technology and 3+ years of progressive management experience in an acute care setting, with a preferred Master’s degree in related fields.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related fields.
• Three years progressively more responsible management experience in an acute care facility with at least one year of frequent involvement with senior management, physicians, other health care providers, and external providers and purchasers.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers directly, and through subordinate supervisory personnel, the effective management and delivery of diagnostic laboratory procedures in accordance with all hospital, system and regulatory agency standards.
• Ensures quality, financial, and customer service objectives are met.
• Develops and administers capital and operating budgets in order to meet departmental goals and objectives; monitors adherence and resolves variances.
• Serves as technical resource to subordinates in resolving complex problems and investigating corrective actions in response to incident reports and/or patient complaints.
• Reviews and approves recommendations for department equipment modifications, new supplies, and minor equipment purchases.
• Recommends and secures approval of major capital expense items, initiating bidding processes with vendors.
