ARMStaffing is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist for a 13-week contract in Nebraska. The role requires overnight shifts, handling laboratory testing, specimen processing, and adherence to LIS workflows and regulatory standards.

The position emphasizes independent workflow management, multitasking, and responsive care during codes and traumas. Relevant MT/MLT credentials are required or preferred, with infection control knowledge and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Must have an approved degree in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science and relevant certification/registration.
• Bachelor level candidate must have MT/CLS or equivalent certification/registration.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital lab practices, infection control and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses, tests, and procedures to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
• Accession and order tests in the LIS and process specimens for referrals.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Troubleshoot as needed and document results and procedures.
• Maintain documentation per regulatory standards and write lab procedures.
• Follow sterilization and infection control protocols due to exposure to specimens.
• Demonstrate customer service and phlebotomy capabilities.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Shift: 7 PM to 7:30 AM; 7 on 7 off. Weekends and holidays are required during the scheduled work week.

Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist performs laboratory testing for WCHS laboratory. This role requires the ability to manage workflow while working independently during overnight shifts, with a focus on multitasking, adjusting priorities, and responding to codes and traumas.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses, tests, and procedures to assist in the prevention, diagnosis, or treatment of diseases.
• Accession and order tests in the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and process specimens for referral to reference laboratories.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment to ensure efficient operation and accurate results.
• Perform basic troubleshooting as needed.
• Maintain documentation according to regulatory agencies and write laboratory policies and procedures.
• Adhere to sterilization and infection control procedures due to regular exposure to infectious clinical specimens.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and routine phlebotomy capabilities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Medical Laboratory Technician: Associate’s degree from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science and certification/registration from MLT(ASCP), MLT(AMT), or CLT(NCA).
• Medical Technologist: Bachelor’s degree from an approved school of Medical Technology/Laboratory Science and certification/registration from MT(ASCP), MT(AMT), or CLS(NCA).
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital laboratory practices, including infection control requirements and chemical and biological hazards.
• Knowledge of governmental and regulating policies and standards.
