Job Description

The Medical Technologist will provide support in the blood bank department and ensure the proper management and testing of blood products. Responsibilities include performing a variety of laboratory procedures and tests, maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality control standards, and effectively documenting results in the Cerner charting system.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood banking procedures including ABO/Rh and antibody screen.
• Conduct crossmatching and other related tests utilizing automated and manual methods.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, transport, labeling, and storage.
• Report and interpret test results accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintain knowledge of hazardous materials and proper disposal methods.
• Participate in quality control and assurance procedures.

Required Experience

Must possess ASCP certification and have prior experience in blood bank procedures along with the required technical skills.

Certifications/Licensure

Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP MT) is required.
