Job summary

Flexcon is seeking a Laboratory Preparatory Technician to support R&D and Technical Response labs. You will prepare and retrieve samples, handle materials, manage inventory, maintain equipment, and perform quality control to ensure safe, compliant operations.

You will collaborate with lab staff and internal customers to supply materials and samples for testing, customer requests, and product development, while upholding organization, traceability, and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, inventory management, warehouse operations, or technical support environment a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a diverse team.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Follow written procedures, work instructions, and safety requirements with accuracy.
• Attention to detail and maintaining organized work areas and sample traceability.
• Safely handle laboratory materials and use PPE.
• Effective verbal and written communication with a customer service mindset.
• Experience with inventory tracking systems, electronic records, or LIMS is a plus.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and moving materials across lab locations.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to all laboratory procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, and safety protocols.
• Prepares, labels, cuts, packages, and distributes samples in support of testing activities and customer requests.
• Retrieves and organizes laboratory materials and samples from designated storage locations.
• Supports multiple departments by fulfilling sample and material requests promptly.
• Serves as a central laboratory operations resource for routine sample, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
• Maintains organization, traceability, and accessibility of laboratory materials and assets.
• Cleans, prepares, and maintains test panels, substrates, fixtures, and other lab materials.
• Performs routine housekeeping to keep work areas clean and safe.
• Conducts and documents routine inspections of safety equipment (eyewash, showers, etc.).
• Identifies and reports safety concerns, equipment issues, and housekeeping deficiencies.
• Assists with inventory management, stocking, organizing, and replenishing supplies.
• Retrieves and distributes incoming lab materials and supplies.
• Maintains accurate records of sample requests, inventory activities, and safety inspections.
• Supports lab personnel by preparing materials, supplies, equipment, and sample sets for testing and development projects.
• Assists with movement of materials between labs and facilities.
• Participates in 5S and continuous improvement activities.
