Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs is seeking an Laboratory Manager for the Butler Works Quality Magnetics Lab. The role ensures safe, accurate and reliable lab operations, supervising hourly union employees and coordinating with steelmaking operations to support manufacturing.

The candidate will develop analytical methods, apply test standards (ASTM) and participate in audits (IATF 16949, ISO 17025 via A2LA) while driving continuous improvement and maintaining equipment and procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical sciences or Engineering, or applicable relevant experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Advanced computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Supervise, train, schedule, and manage the safety of hourly union employees.
• Develop and implement processes for timely and accurate results and continuous improvement.
• Prepare for and participate in audits for Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards including IATF 16949 and ISO 17025 through A2LA.
• Develop analytical methods and apply ASTM and other test methods; create new test methods as needed.
• Maintain and repair laboratory equipment to support manufacturing operations.
• Create and maintain work instructions for laboratory procedures.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment spares within budget.
