Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Butler Works Quality Magnetics Lab seeks a Laboratory Manager to lead technical and analytical activities, ensuring safe, accurate lab operations. The role supervises hourly union staff, supports audit readiness, maintains equipment, and coordinates with steel making operations for timely support in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical sciences or Engineering or relevant experience.
• Three years of heavy manufacturing experience.
• Supervisory experience in a laboratory or technical setting.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Supervise and schedule hourly union employees.
• Develop and implement processes for timely, accurate results and continuous improvement.
• Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits (Quality, Safety, Environmental standards).
• Develop analytical methods and apply test methods (ASTM and others).
• Maintain equipment and manage inventory within budget.
• Communicate with operations and contractors to coordinate work and services.
