Job summary

Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Laboratory Manager who will oversee diagnostic operations and support patient care. You will work closely with the Technical Director to ensure accuracy, quality control, and efficient lab services.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related field, ASCP/ equivalent certification, and at least two years of supervisory experience; POCT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related biological science required.
• Certification as MT/CLS/MLS or equivalent required, or eligible for registry.
• Registry/certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• At least two years of supervisory experience.
• POCT experience preferred and knowledge of POCT procedures and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Technical Director in managing Laboratory operations.
• Oversee department operations, including POCT.
• Ensure overall lab performance, QC, scheduling, budgeting, inventory and maintenance in absence of the director.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The manager of the laboratory serves patients by providing medical laboratory diagnostic and therapeutic information, products, and services.

What you will do in this role:

• You will serve as an assistant to the technical director in management of the Laboratory operations.
• You will oversee the operation of the individual departments to include POCT as assigned by the Technical Director.
• You will assume authority and responsibility for all matters of the laboratory including the daily efficient of all operations of all sections of the laboratory, good quality control practices, scheduling, personnel policy interpretation and counseling, inventory, reference laboratory testing, budget and instrument maintenance in the absence of the director.

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related biological science required.
• MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP) or, as appropriate, BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I (ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) certification or equivalent required OR registry/certification eligible.
• Registry/certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Must have at least two years supervisory experience.
• Point of Care Testing (POCT) experience is preferred:
• Comprehensive knowledge of procedures, policies and equipment with regard to POCT.
