Job summary

UP Health System Marquette is seeking a Laboratory Director to lead and advance the laboratory department in a 1.0 FTE, salaried role. You will develop departmental goals, oversee patient care delivery, information systems, budgeting and audits, and foster professional growth while ensuring compliance with clinical and ethical standards.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science (Master's preferred), with 5 years as a technologist, plus at least 2 years in leadership and 5

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science is required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• 5 years as Technologist.
• 2 years leadership or supervisory experience.
• 5 years of management and administrative experience (Preferred).
• ASCP or equivalent certification required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements departmental goals aligned with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives.
• Directs and evaluates departmental operations including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management.
• Plans staffing activities including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education.
• Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets and coordinates audits.
• Creates an environment that encourages professional growth.
• Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
• Supervises and delegates department inventory control.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Science

Master's degree (Preferred)

ASCP or equivalent

Valid State of Michigan driver license
