Job summary

Independence Health System seeks a Laboratory Services Director to lead and be accountable for the Laboratory Services department, with direct supervisory duties including hiring, coaching, and staff development. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in related field with 4 years of laboratory experience.
• 2–4 years supervisory/management experience in laboratory.
• Strong leadership, organizational and critical thinking skills with sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate complex topics to a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Laboratory Services department and be accountable for its performance.
• Direct supervisory plans including hiring, coaching, staff development and performance management.
• Enforce policies and procedures across all staff and ensure policy adherence.
• Develop and manage department budget and keep expenses at or below budget expectations.
• Identify revenue enhancement opportunities and improve financial performance.
• Maintain safety, infection control and environmental guidelines across the department.
• Ensure staff competencies including mandatory education and required programs.
• Investigate Significant Occurrence Reports and incident reports as needed.
• Collaborate across Independence Health System to promote safety, efficiency, and compliance.
• Work to improve HCAP scores and achieve targets for service quality.
• Coordinate department activities with other labs and participate in hospital committees.
• Address billing issues and implement corrective actions to prevent repetition.
