Job summary

Qualifications

• CPR Certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment maintenance and temperature checks as needed.
• Accession samples and perform low/medium complexity tests as needed.
• Prepare buffers and reagents.
• Prepare samples for send-out to reference laboratory.
• Assist technologists in operating laboratory equipment for chemistry, bacteriology, urinalysis and hematology tests.
• Maintain laboratory logs per policy.

POSITION SUMMARY: Performs routine and specialized assignments and demonstrates proficiency and understanding of the procedures in the areas of a clinical laboratory.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School graduate or equivalent; completion of Phlebotomy certification program preferred.

Experience: One (1) - two (2) year experience as a laboratory assistant; phlebotomy skills including pediatric blood draws required.

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: CPR Certification

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

• Prepares samples for send-out to reference laboratory.
• Assists the Medical Technologist in operating various types of laboratory equipment to perform tests in chemistry, bacteriology, urine analysis, and hematology.
• Maintains laboratory logs of tests as required and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
