ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, preparing samples for testing, and assisting with laboratory operations to ensure efficient and accurate diagnostics.
Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures to collect blood samples from patients of all ages.
Accurately label and handle specimens to maintain specimen integrity and ensure proper chain of custody.
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in accordance with infection control policies.
Assist laboratory staff with clerical duties, such as data entry, filing, and managing specimen logs.
Monitor and restock phlebotomy and lab supplies.
Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold professional bedside manner.
Follow all protocols and quality assurance procedures for specimen collection and laboratory testing.
Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians, and lab personnel.
Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and other applicable health and safety regulations.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certification in Phlebotomy from an accredited program (e.g., CPT, PBT) preferred.
Previous experience as a phlebotomist or in a clinical/laboratory setting is highly desirable.
Knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory procedures, and safety protocols.
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification may be required.
