About the Role

As a Laboratory Assistant III, you will serve as a vital resource within the laboratory, providing advanced specimen processing support, coordinating workflow, assisting customers and clinical staff, and helping maintain efficient laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, process, label, centrifuge, and distribute specimens for testing
• Register patients and enter laboratory orders into hospital information systems
• Demonstrate expertise in specimen collection, handling, and processing requirements
• Research and resolve customer requests and issues
• Ensure follow-up and communication regarding patient care concerns
• Support billing, reference testing, scheduling, and laboratory operations
• Direct workflow and assist team members in meeting departmental expectations
• Train and support laboratory staff as needed
• Serve as a liaison between the laboratory, physicians, nursing teams, clients, and vendors
• Order and maintain laboratory supplies
• Process pathology specimens and coordinate courier pickups
• Document specimen quality concerns and participate in quality improvement efforts
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
• Assist with report distribution and departmental communications

Additional Opportunities

• May perform phlebotomy upon completion of approved competencies
• May perform IV starts with approved training and competency validation
