The Neuroimmunology Research Lab within the UCSF Department of Medicine is offering an entry-level research assistant position. This opportunity is intended for a someone who is interested in gaining laboratory experience.
Our laboratory has pioneered the study of murine microglia and macrophages in neurodegenerative diseases, such as traumatic brain injury and neurological lupus.
Ongoing projects in the lab aim to study the role of macrophages and inflammatory genes in the context of traumatic brain injury and experimental lupus models.
The successful applicant will assist senior lab staff with studies of murine-based projects that involve techniques such as animal behavior experiments, sequencing library preparation, animal colony maintenance, cell culture, and cytokine assays.

Working Conditions / Environment :
The work environment is a biomedical research laboratory. It may include minor annoyances such as noise, temperature variations, etc. The incumbent may be required to sustain standing and seated postures and to use a computer keyboard and display monitor for prolonged periods.
The base salary range for this position is $18.67-$21.42 per hour. The base salary actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate's geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.
