Job summary

Indiana University Health in Frankfort is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection via venipuncture, enter orders, prepare blood components, and handle related clerical tasks. The role emphasizes strong customer service and compassion.

This part-time, rotating shift includes 2pm-6pm or 9am-6pm with every other Saturday rotation; HS diploma or GED, completion of a phlebotomy program, and a valid Indiana driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

  • May require a valid Indiana driver’s license and good driving history.
  • Understanding of traffic laws in Indiana.
  • Strong computer skills and telephone proficiency.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general laboratory services including specimen collection by routine venipuncture.
  • Handle order entry, blood component preparation, and pre-analytic processing.
  • Perform related clerical tasks such as entering orders, answering calls, and managing faxes.
  • May be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens.

The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens as well as related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal incumbent will possess strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

LOCATION: IU Frankfort Hospital

Shift/Hours: Part-time-Rotating, Closing Hours, 2pm-6pm, 9am-6pm, start times may vary depending on need.

Every other Saturday rotation (7am-Noon), no holidays.

  • Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred.
  • May require a valid Indiana Operators license and a good driving history for the last three years.
  • May require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana.
  • Requires proven understanding of computers.
  • Requires telephone skills.
  • Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
  • Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • May serve on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the overall purpose and essential functions of the department. Position overview and requirements to be added by Consultants.
