Job summary

Indiana University Health in Frankfort is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide general laboratory services including specimen collection by routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, and pre-analytic processing. The incumbent will perform related clerical tasks and may register patients and deliver specimens.

The position is part-time with rotating shifts (2pm-6pm, 9am-6pm), requires strong customer service, and teamwork within IU Frankfort Hospital.

Qualifications

• HS grad or GED required.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services including specimen collection via routine venipuncture.
• Performs order entry, blood component preparation, and pre-analytic processing of specimens.
• Handles related clerical tasks such as entering orders, answering calls, and managing faxes.
• Mits patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens as assigned.
• Demonstrates strong customer service skills and compassion.

In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country.

The Phlebotomist provides general laboratory services including specimen collection using routine venipuncture, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing of specimens as well as related clerical tasks such as entering orders into the system, answering phone calls, and managing faxes. The incumbent may be responsible for patient and specimen registration and delivery of specimens. The ideal incumbent will possess strong customer service skills and be highly compassionate.

LOCATION: IU Frankfort Hospital

Shift/Hours: Part-time-Rotating, Closing Hours, 2pm-6pm, 9am- 6pm, start times may vary depending on need.

Every other Saturday rotation (7am-Noon), no holidays.

• Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program with experience in laboratory or coursework in biological, chemical or related science preferred.
• May require a valid Indiana Operators license and a good driving history for the last three years.
• May require an understanding of the traffic laws in the State of Indiana.
• Requires proven understanding of computers.
• Requires telephone skills.
• Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
• Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
• May serve on appropriate committees or projects that contribute to the overall purpose and essential functions of the department. Position overview and requirements to be added by Consultants.
