Job summary

Norman Regional Health System's laboratory is seeking driven individuals to join a high-paced, team-oriented environment. This role involves venipuncture, specimen handling, and contributing to a state-of-the-art lab with opportunities for advancement.

Requirements include a high school diploma, knowledge of medical terminology, and 3 months of phlebotomy experience or related rotations. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 3 months phlebotomy experience or related rotation or 6 months medical field blood-drawing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests.
  • Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
  • Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and testing procedures.
  • Performs waived testing as required.
  • Knows Lab automation line functionality.
  • Acts as a resource for laboratory information.

Job Summary
  • Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests and know all safety requirements.
  • Receives and distributes specimens in the laboratory.
  • Processes specimens for testing, storage and send out to reference laboratories.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of specimen requirements and limitation of testing procedures.
  • Performs waived testing as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about the functionality of the Lab’s automation line.
  • Acts as a resource for laboratory information.
  • Timeliness of specimen collections and contamination.
Qualifications
Education
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience
  • 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood or blood processing, or current MLT student in clinical rotations, or one or more college level courses in a biological science

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).

Licensure/Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
Compensation/Benefits
  • $15.45-$25.24/hr depending on previous work experience
  • Position qualifies for $1.75/hr night shift differential
