Job summary

Norman Regional Health System is seeking a motivated Phlebotomist to join our community-focused Laboratory. You will handle admissions, registrations, and order lab tests, while ensuring Medicare and insurance requirements are met.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, specimen collection, safety, and coordinating test procedures. A High School diploma, phlebotomy experience, and BLS certification are required, with a preference for 1 year in a medical setting.

Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent GED.
  • Requires some knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Skill in use of computers including word processing.
  • 3 months customer service experience.
  • Experience as a phlebotomist or 6 months in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate must include a minimum of 32 hours of a clinical rotation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training.
  • Current BLS maintained thru re-training.
  • Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s license with less than 3 points if hired into department # 40110.
  • MVR must meet NRHS MVR policy criteria or Defensive Driving must be taken.
  • Prefer 1 year of experience in a medical setting.

  • Processes specimens for testing, storage and site batches if applicable.

Job Summary

Experience

  • Requires three months customer service experience.
  • Requires experience as a phlebotomist.
  • Experience as a phlebotomist may be substituted for Customer Service experience.
  • Phlebotomy experience is 3 months phlebotomy experience, or a Clinical Phlebotomy certificate, or 6 months experience in a medical field providing patient care which includes drawing blood.
  • The Phlebotomy Certificate must include a minimum of 32 hours of a clinical rotation.

(Above requirements can be met by equivalent combination of education and experience)

Licensure/Certification

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.
  • Outreach employees must have a Valid Oklahoma State Driver’s license with less than 3 points on his/her record if being hired into department # 40110.
  • MVR must meet NRHS MVR policy criteria or Defensive Driving must be taken.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Prefer 1 year of experience in a medical setting.
Compensation/Benefits
  • $15.46-$25.24/hr depending on previous work experience.
