Job description

Laboratory Assistant Position

This position is in the biology group for new herbicide discovery, involving work in both the lab and greenhouses.

Responsibilities include:

1. Transplanting plant material for testing
2. Moving carts between lab and greenhouses
3. Mixing herbicide application solvents
4. Formulating and applying herbicidal compounds
5. Weighing plant samples
6. Assessing plant injury
7. Bagging plant material for de-vitalization
8. Cleaning and maintaining labs

The role requires working in various greenhouse conditions, including warm and cool environments. The candidate should be comfortable working closely with plant material and able to work independently or in small teams. Training will be provided; a background in plant biology or horticulture is beneficial.

Minimum qualifications: Associate’s degree preferred.

Additional notes: PAPR certification and training will be provided onsite.
