Job description

Pride Health is Hiring: Lab Assistant - Histology

Location: West Hills, CA 91304

Duration: 6-month assignment with potential contract-to-hire opportunity

Pay Rate: $19 - $24 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with rotational Saturdays

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the preparation of histopathology slides under supervision, adhering to policies and procedures.
• Receive, label, and prepare tissue specimens for gross dissection.
• Handle paperwork related to accessioning and reporting.
• Monitor inventory levels and requisition supplies as needed; maintain laboratory stock and supplies.
• Clean, sterilize, and organize laboratory equipment and work areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and supply cabinets.
• Perform coverslipping of stained slides manually and using automated equipment.
• Complete assigned clerical tasks.
• Ensure compliance with all health, quality, and safety policies; wear personal protective equipment as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• None required

Preferred Experience:

• One year of previous histopathology, laboratory experience, or training is preferred.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 1-10 pounds frequently, and 11-25 pounds occasionally.
• Capability to stand and work at a bench for extended periods.
• Frequent walking and standing.
• Ability to operate laboratory instruments requiring manual dexterity.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Basic knowledge of non-complex laboratory instruments.
• Attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures accurately and retain learned information.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with coworkers, supervisors, and clients.
• Maintain confidentiality of client information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems.
• Typing ability: 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
