Job summary

Bay IVF Center in Palo Alto is seeking a Lab Assistant to support our IVF lab team. You will perform semen assessment, prepare culture media, and help with embryo culture under the guidance of experienced embryologists.

This full‑time role requires careful, detail‑oriented work, respect for patient confidentiality, and the ability to follow SOPs. Weekend or holiday availability may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biological sciences.

Responsibilities

• Perform semen assessment and sperm preparations.
• Maintain the Cobas instrument and run tests, reporting results in a timely manner.
• Prepare culture media and labeled dishes for egg retrieval, fertilization and embryo culture.
• Assist with specimen handling and labeling per strict chain-of-custody procedures.
• Set up and clean the lab for daily procedures and maintain equipment.
• Log temperatures, gas levels and other daily checks; support quality control and SOPs.

Job description

Bay IVF Center is a fertility clinic in Palo Alto, and we help people build their families. Our embryology and endocrinology lab is a small, careful, close-knit team, and we are looking for a Lab Assistant to help keep it running smoothly.

What you'll do

• Perform semen assessment and sperm preparations
• Maintain the cobas instrument and run tests, reporting results in a timely manner
• Prepare culture media and labeled dishes for egg retrieval, fertilization and embryo culture
• Help with specimen handling and labeling, following strict chain-of-custody and double-check procedures
• Set up and clean up the lab for daily procedures
• Clean, stock and maintain lab equipment, incubators and workstations
• Keep inventory of lab supplies and consumables, and place orders as needed
• Log temperatures, gas levels and other daily checks
• Support quality control and documentation, and follow our written SOPs
• Help the embryologists wherever needed

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's in biological science field
• Lab experience preferred
