Conceptions Fertility seeks an experienced embryologist to join its lab team. You will perform egg retrieval, vitrification, embryo transfer, and ICSI, with trophectoderm biopsy as a preferred skill. The role requires independent work, strict QC, and accurate record-keeping.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform embryology duties including egg retrieval, vitrification, embryo transfer and ICSI; note trophectoderm biopsy when available.
  • Work independently and follow lab procedures for specimen handling, processing, analyses and reporting.
  • Maintain QC records and adhere to quality control policies; communicate issues to the Lab Director.
  • Conduct and record semen analyses and cryopreservation activities as part of Andrology responsibilities.
  • Document patient care and maintain a safe, compliant lab environment; participate in lab operations.

Previous embryology lab experience (3-5 years) is preferred, and you must be able to pass a background check. Hours may vary but typically will be between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday. Weekends, after hours work, and long hours will be required for this position and the schedule will be set in coordination with the Lab Director upon starting in the position.

Responsibilities
Embryology
  • Have a minimum of three years experience working as a clinical embryologist
  • Be skilled in egg retrieval, vitrification, embryo transfer, and ICSI with skills in trophectoderm biopsy preferable.
  • Be able to work independently
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintain daily, monthly and yearly QC records.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect patient outcomes and communicate these to the laboratory director
  • Participate in Laboratory Operations as directed.
Andrology
  • Perform semen analyses, including sperm count, sperm motility, sperm morphology, and viability. These procedures utilize manual microscopic methods. Perform routine sperm preps for inseminations.
  • Be comfortable with thawing and cryopreserving sperm specimens , including testicular tissue for fertility preservation and ART procedures.
  • Maintain accurate, current cryopreservation records. Accession and record donor and autologous frozen sperm specimens accurately when received, thawed, discarded, or transferred.
Quality Control
  • Keep all laboratory equipment at optimal performance. Maintain an accurate log of preventative maintenance due dates and service contracts.
  • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality management policies; document all quality control activities, as well as all instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Follow the laboratory’s policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established, acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results. Correct the problems when possible and immediately notify the Laboratory Director or his/her designee(s).
General/Administrative
  • Document patient care services by charting in patient computer database and departmental records and filing clinical documents.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and calling for assistance from other health care support personnel when appropriate.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control and laboratory safety policies and protocols.
  • Is available for on-call duty as necessary.
  • Participate in patient education and communication with co-workers.
Qualifications
  • BS degree or higher in a related scientific discipline.
  • Must demonstrate good work ethic with motivation for learning laboratory procedures
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Knowledge of office procedure and office machines (i.e. computer, fax, copier, etc.)
  • Must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays.
