$60,000.00/yr - $72,000.00/yr
Overview:
Join a dedicated healthcare laboratory team committed to high standards in diagnostics and patient care. As a Specimen Processing Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the initial stages of lab testing by ensuring accuracy, safety, and timeliness in handling and preparing patient samples for analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and assess incoming samples to verify they meet processing requirements
- Label and prepare specimens by following specific procedures, including centrifuging and aliquoting as necessary
- Ensure all sample information matches corresponding test orders for accurate tracking and processing
- Operate laboratory information systems to enter and retrieve data, log results, and monitor workflow
- Coordinate specimen delivery to testing departments efficiently and accurately
- Communicate with internal teams regarding unclear orders or special processing requirements
- Assist with packaging and coordinating shipments to external testing facilities, adhering to transport regulations
- Maintain cleanliness and equipment in designated work areas, participating in routine maintenance checks
- Monitor supply levels and communicate replenishment needs
- Respond to inquiries about sample handling and logistics, providing clear and accurate information
Work Conditions:
- Primary work hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., though start times may vary depending on daily assignments (typically between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.)
- Work is conducted in a clinical setting with strict adherence to safety and infection control protocols
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with precision and consistency
- Comfort working with biological materials in a regulated healthcare environment
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with healthcare or lab software systems is a plus, but not required (training provided)
