The University of Georgia seeks a laboratory assistant for wildlife and fisheries sample processing, DNA extractions for population genetic analyses, and lab maintenance. The role supports graduate students and the lab manager with sample tracking and processing of various tissues and swab samples.
Candidates should be pursuing a BS in biology, genetics, marine science, or wildlife/fisheries; prior lab experience is a plus, and strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.
The Shamblin lab seeks laboratory assistants for wildlife and fisheries sample processing and DNA extractions for population genetic analyses. This position will assist graduate students and the lab manager with sample tracking, processing of blood, eggshell, skin, fin clips, and swab samples, and DNA extractions for genotyping and sequencing for fish and wildlife species of conservation concern. It will also assist in sample archiving and general laboratory maintenance.
This position is laboratory based. Candidates should be able to sit or stand at the bench for extended periods and occasionally lift boxes up to 40 pounds.
