The Shamblin lab seeks laboratory assistants for wildlife and fisheries sample processing, DNA extractions, and data calling for population genetic analyses. This position will assist graduate students and the lab manager with sample tracking, processing of blood, eggshell, skin, fin clips, and swab samples, and DNA extractions for genotyping and sequencing for fish and wildlife species of conservation concern. This position will also assist the PI with data calling with microsatellite and sequencing projects. Sample archiving and general laboratory maintenance are necessary. Ideal candidates are available to work 30–40 hours weekly if not taking classes or 15–20 hours weekly if taking classes during the summer. Please list your summer availability in your cover letter.
This position is primarily laboratory based. Candidates will sit or stand at the bench for extended periods and may occasionally lift boxes up to 40 pounds.
