Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Animal Care Attendant to support the Animal Resources Center in Dallas. You will provide care, feeding, and transportation of laboratory animals, ensure cleanliness of facilities, and maintain records in compliance with SOPs.

Responsibilities include animal health monitoring, daily water and cage checks, and assisting with restraint and handling of various species. This role requires adherence to safety procedures and may involve weekend work.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience in animal caretaking.

Responsibilities

• Review SOPs and QA standards for the area.
• Monitor daily animal health and welfare; perform health observations.
• Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of animal species.
• Receive, identify and house selected animal species; maintain related records.
• Operate equipment and sanitize facilities and equipment.
• May perform minor medical treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
• Maintain attendance and adhere to work schedules; weekends as needed.
