Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks a supervisory professional to oversee daily operations within the vivaria and support the animal care staff. The role requires knowledge of species handling, breeding, and technical skills, with responsibility for training, mentoring, and maintaining records for the animal resources program.

You will assist in ensuring facility standards, safety, and compliance with ARC, IACUC, and related guidelines while supporting investigators and project needs.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a supervisory/management role in an animal care facility/operation or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Associate's Degree.
• Licenses and Certifications: ALAT or LAT upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the animal care staff in the vivaria and ensure high standards of care.
• Maintain and audit record keeping for the animal care program, census, breeding, and services.
• Train and mentor animal care staff; support staffing decisions and equipment needs.
• Ensure facility inspections and QA programs meet accreditation requirements (ARC SOPs, IACUC, etc.).
• Assist in safety programs and cross-functional collaborations with investigators.
