Job summary

Merck is seeking a Laboratory Animal Resources leader to oversee the care and husbandry of research animals, supervise up to 15 staff, and ensure SOP compliance across the R&D division.

The role includes cross‑department collaboration, training, equipment validation, and maintaining records, with weekend/holiday duty rotation and a strong focus on animal welfare and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BS in Biology or related in vivo field (minimum)
• MS in Biology or related in vivo field (preferred)
• ALAT and/or AAALAS certifications are advantageous

Responsibilities

• Engages in interdepartmental collaborations within the R&D Division.
• Compiles managerial reports on manpower, attendance, and records.
• Communicates effectively with departmental and research staff.
• Lead role in training departmental and research staff.
• Directs up to 15 animal care personnel in care and husbandry.
• Oversees animal purchases and coordination with veterinarians.
• Develops and implements equipment and process validation programs.
