Job summary

Inotiv, a growing drug discovery company, is seeking an Animal Care Technician in Westminster, CO to maintain daily care of laboratory animals and support vivarium operations.

You will perform sanitation, housing prep, cage washing, and health observations while documenting procedures; collaboration with the research team is expected. The role requires a high school diploma and 0–3 years of experience in animal care or related fields.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
  • 0–3 years of work experience in animal care or related fields is acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily care for research animals and maintain housing.
  • Perform routine sanitation of cages and equipment.
  • Record facility procedures and metrics accurately.
  • Monitor environmental parameters and report abnormalities.
  • Assist researchers with lab procedures as needed.

Job description

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Providing exceptional animal care to the research animals at Inotiv.
  • Performing daily husbandry and care of laboratory animals in a research environment.
  • Sanitization and preparation of animal housing equipment, including operation of a large bulk rack washer.
  • Performing animal technical procedures and providing animal study support with supervision.
  • Working as part of a team conducting routine procedures required for vivarium operation.
  • Providing food, water, and clean housing to rodents according to SOPs.
  • Performing daily health observations with demonstrated ability to recognize and report abnormalities and common signs of illness.
  • Handling and restraining rodents.
  • Learning opportunities to assist research technicians with various lab procedures, but not required.
  • Maintaining accurate records (e.g. documentation of various facility procedures & metrics).
  • Perform routine facility sanitation procedures; maintain a clean, clutter-free facility.
  • Prepare and stock room supplies.
  • Monitor and record facility environmental parameters.
  • May perform euthanasia procedures as directed.
  • Operate husbandry-related equipment (e.g. cage washers, autoclaves, air flow hoods, etc.) using approved procedures.
  • Wash and prepare caging and equipment.
  • Maintain work area in an organized, clean, and safe condition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum of High School Diploma required.
  • College courses and/or associates or bachelor’s degree in animal science or Husbandry are highly desirable.
  • 0-3 years of work experience.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in individual and team settings.
Performance Requirements
  • Able to lift 50 lbs repetitively.
  • Able to work overtime, as needed.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and responsibilities.

Salary range is $18-$20/hr and will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
