Job summary

West Virginia University is seeking a Facility Manager for the Office of Lab Animal Resources. The role oversees husbandry staff, ensures compliance with AAALAC/USDA standards, and maintains animal housing operations across campus.

You will establish training programs, maintain accurate records, and coordinate with regulatory bodies while supporting institutional policies to ensure humane and compliant animal care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or Veterinary Technician degree is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of animal care experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of administrative experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct management of husbandry staff and daily tasks.
• Develop and implement training programs for staff.
• Develop policies and procedures related to animal husbandry.
• Maintain records related to animal care operations.
• Ensure facility meets AAALAC/USDA standards and respond to inspection findings.
• Coordinate with regulatory agencies and IACUC office as needed.
• Oversee animal room/building transfers and space planning.
• Share rotating facility call with other managers/supervisors.
• Stay updated on federal regulations and professional standards.
