Job summary

Harvard University is seeking an Animal Care Facility Supervisor for the Center for Comparative Medicine to ensure compliant, efficient animal care operations across facilities. You will supervise staff, manage performance, and coordinate cage wash procedures, inventories, and safety protocols.

The role requires leadership of a team with experience in animal facilities, rodents, and LATg considerations, with duties including SOP development, training, and 24/7 on-call support for emergencies.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in animal care facilities management with increasing responsibility
• 1+ year in a supervisory role
• Experience working with rodents required
• LATg certification eligibility
• ABS L-2 facility experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise Animal Facility Staff to ensure high-quality animal care and safe operations.
• Oversee personnel management, performance reviews, and onboarding.
• Coordinate work assignments and inventory of feed, bedding, and supplies.
• Provide researcher support for animal husbandry and facility access needs.
• Develop, review, and implement SOPs for animal care and cage wash operations.
• Train staff to ensure adherence to SOPs and safe practices.
• Maintain records on animal census, equipment, and attendance.
• Collaborate with Safety staff to promote a safe work environment.
• Coordinate facility repairs and manage emergencies on-call 24/7.
