Job summary

University of Pennsylvania is seeking an ULAR Manager, Husbandry to oversee daily operations of the animal facility from a husbandry and regulatory perspective. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and ensure compliance with applicable standards while maintaining accurate census and records.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in a related role.
• AALAS LATG certification required or must be obtained within 6 months.
• Experience managing a laboratory animal facility and supervising staff.
• Experience handling small animals, including rodents.
• Strong computer skills and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the animal facility from husbandry and regulatory perspectives.
• Oversee animal care staff including scheduling, hiring, and performance reviews.
• Interface with investigators to troubleshoot husbandry, facility, and animal procurement issues.
• Maintain census, records, and inventory using computer systems.
• Coordinate with maintenance and vendors for facility equipment and repairs.
