Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) to join their team. On-the-job training will be provided; no laboratory experience required, just a desire to learn.

The role involves preparing and analyzing microbiological samples (air, water, bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria, using classic and advanced methods, generating reports in the LIMS system, and maintaining equipment. Full-time hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s in Life Science preferred.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Laboratory experience is a plus.
• Experience with spore traps, direct microscopy, culture-based microbiology, bacteriology or mycology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze microbiological samples (air, water, bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria.
• Use classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Perform QA/QC per the QA/QC manual.
• Admin duties including sample login, data entry, and report emailing.

Job DetailsJob Location: Houston, TX 77040Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 HourlyEMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Microbiology) in Houston, TX. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Preparation and analysis of Microbiological samples (air, water, and bulk materials) for fungi and bacteria
• Classical and advanced methods for microbial and bio-aerosol analysis
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

QualificationsRequirements

• High School degree or equivalent
• Bachelors Degree in Life Science is a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely and without restriction or sponsorship
• Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
• Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, other culture-based microbiology, bacteriology, or mycology is a plus
• Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
• Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available shift

Positions is full-time time Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
