Job summary

EMSL Analytical, Inc. in Cinnaminson, NJ is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos). No laboratory experience is required, just a willingness to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices.

On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. The role involves preparing and analyzing materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM, with QA/QC procedures, data entry into LIMS, and reporting. A geology-related degree is a plus, and U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy training preferred; some laboratory experience in academic or commercial setting.
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good time management and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and TEM and related quality control procedures.
• Determine visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS.
• Perform QA/QC per the company QA/QC manual.
• Administrative duties including sample login, data entry, report scanning and emailing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into LIMS system
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
• Administrative duties including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports and answering phones
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science is a plus
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training preferredSome Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting
• 0 to 1 years’ experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance

Available Shift:

• Position is full time, Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Training shift to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
